Central Coast Circuit Race #2, 2/12/11
M45+4/5, 41 racers
60 minute circuit race (4+ mile laps x 6 laps = ~25 miles), a few hills with a fast descent and long false flat to the S/F line each lap
Low 70 F, slightly breezy
IC3 Racers:  Shane Huntoon, Bruce Ishimoto, Robert Palassou
Other teams:  SJBC, Taleo, Peninsula Velo, and others
Raced in the new 2011 kit!  A bit of old and new – previous generation circular IC3 logo but with new less intense color scheme.  We received some nice compliments.
We met as a team and worked up a plan for the race.  Rob was to stay vigilant throughout the race and cover for me.  Shane and Bruce were to drive the pace in the finale to keep the pace high and set me up for the win.  The race started slow and stayed that way until the final lap.  Throughout most of the race, I stayed near the front, and always had a teammate in front of me.  On the final lap, the pace became more urgent so I stayed closer to the front.  As we approached the final descent, two Taleo riders attacked and strung out the field.  I maintained good position as the field came back together and then sprinted to the win.  To God be the glory!
Most of the race was executed per plan.  It was great working with teammates to achieve this fine result.  Thanks to the IC3 M45+1/2/3 guys that cheered us to the finish.  Thanks to Livermore Cyclery – my recent tune-up kept my bike working flawlessly throughout the entire race.  And thanks to Shane for the great pictures.
