You couldn’t ask for better weather. Stefano, Ron and I pre rode the course and talked about a loosely strategy. From the start 3 or 4 guys rolled off the front.. After lap 1 the break was still off the front but not really pulling away and was always in sight and the pack seem content to let them hang out there. One by one a rider would bridge up to the break. Ron and Stefano rode towards the front and I was a few wheels back from them. As we approached the stair step climb section Stefano and a Iron Data rider attacks and bridge up to the break. Again the break was still in sight but now with more riders. I’m glad Stefano was in the break but I don’t know if this is good or not. At this point there might of been to many riders in the break for it to work and on the following lap the break was absorbed. Soon after Stefano breaks a spoke.
With 3 laps to go Ron and I ride towards the front and go with any attacks. With 2 to go more attacked and acceleration but Ron and I hold a top 5 position. With one to go a rider sneak off and grains about 5 sec lead. When we hit the stair step section the pack is all together and jockeying for the finish. On the down hill section I was about 8 or 9th and as we come around the final corner I get pinch between 2 riders and have to wait a few section before starting my sprint. A hole finial open I take off and the finish line came to quick for 2nd place.
As we prepare to call it a day and head home we pray together thanking GOD for his blessing and give him the honor and glory of what the team was able to accomplish!
PS: it was awesome to see Ben come across the finish line with his hand up in the air as well and Shane and Bruce battling in the sprint for 10 top!
